Hays are currently recruiting an experienced Payroll Service Manager / Senior Payroll Specialist to join a forward-thinking organisation based in Stockton-on-Tees. This is a key role with ownership of the full payroll and pensions service across the Group, offering an immediate start and long-term opportunity to shape and improve payroll delivery.
The RoleAs our Payroll Service Manager, you will:
1. Own the full payroll and pensions service for the Group — end to end, every cycle, every detail.
2. Act as the organisation’s payroll subject-matter expert, ensuring accuracy,pliance, and high-quality service colleagues can rely on.
3. Streamline and modernise payroll processes, systems, and reporting, helping to shape a smarter, future-focused payroll function.
4. Lead on all requirements, managing returns, resolving queries, and ensuring full audit readiness at all times.
5. Drive continuous improvement and innovation, enhancing the payroll experience for colleagues and managers alike.
About You
6. Proven experience in a senior or managerial payroll role.
7. Strong technical payroll knowledge with experience of pensions.
8. Detail-oriented with amitment to accuracy,pliance, and service excellence.
9. Confident working independently while collaborating effectively with stakeholders.
10. A proactive mindset with a passion for improving processes and systems.
