Overview

We have an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Technician to join our Maintenance team at our Beckton Sewage Treatment Works (STW). As the successful candidate, your role will be to ensure that all equipment at our waste treatment works is safe to use and running efficiently using proactive and reactive maintenance methods to assist in keeping such a site running. What you’ll be doing as the Mechanical Technician

* Investigate plant failures and perform repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid interruptions to the process. This may involve investigating and diagnosing complex faults and performing repairs during incidents.
* Provide technical advice, refer to up-to-date technical knowledge, and provide training or support for technical trainees if required.
* Work on equipment such as motors, gearboxes, screw/chain conveyors & centrifuges, various pumps, and associated control gear, 3-phase motors, starters, automatic valves, flow, level and pressure measurement, programmable equipment, chemical handling, and dosing equipment.
* Complete statutory checks as required.
* Always work safely and comply with all Health and Safety guidance and procedures.

Beckton STW


Working Pattern

38 Hours Monday–Friday 7:30 am – 3:36 pm. Plus standby & overtime opportunity, increasing earnings by a potential £8,000 - £10,000, upon completion of essential company training.


Equipment

All PPE and tools are provided.


What you should bring to the role

* ONC/HNC in engineering, NVQ, or C&G level 3 in mechanical engineering qualification is desirable.
* Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues are essential.
* The role may require working in confined spaces and physical fitness, with appropriate training provided.
* A valid driving licence is essential, and all necessary equipment, such as the vehicle and tools, is provided.

* Standby rota payments & overtime opportunities can increase earnings by up to a further £8,000-£10,000 per annum upon completion of essential company training.
