Akasha Holistic & Wellbeing is the award-winning spa and wellness sanctuary of Hotel Café Royal, one of Londons most iconic 5-star hotels. Our serene space features six treatment rooms, a Hammam, sauna, steam room, an 18-metre swimming pool, Watsu pool, a state-of-the-art gym, and a dedicated studio for yoga and Pilates. We are looking for a Head Spa Therapist to join the award winning team at Akasha Holistic & Wellbeing within Hotel Cafe Royal. As the most senior therapist within Akasha, you will embody excellence in holistic therapies and service leadership. You will take ownership of all treatments, treatment and product knowledge training, ensuring every therapist and receptionist is confident, consistent, and aligned with our signature standards.
Your approach will be hands-on, adaptive, and coaching-ledensuring that every guest receives a seamless journey from arrival to departure, supported by deep expertise, intuitive care, and personalised wellbeing guidance.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, inspire, and mentor a team of Spa and Wellbeing specialists to consistently deliver exceptional service and world-class treatments.
Develop and deliver comprehensive training programmes, including:
Signature Akasha treatment protocols
Product knowledge for therapists and receptionists
Coaching sessions for new starters and refresher training for the wider team
Ensure treatment quality excellence, observing and evaluating therapist performance and upholding brand standards across all service areas.
Support the overall guest experience, offering professional guidance on spa facilities, wellness programs, treatment recommendations, and membership options.
Perform treatments for journalists, members, VIPs and hotel guests.
Oversee spa ambience and presentation, ensuring all areas reflect a serene, luxurious, and welcoming environment.
Coordinate operational activities, including:
Supporting reception and bookings
Assisting with recruitment
Contributing to staff scheduling and rotas
Supporting marketing initiatives and promotions
Administration duties, including monthly reports for incentives and tips for therapists.
Take responsibility for stock taking and ordering in line with budget.
Act as a calm, confident, and knowledgeable point of contact for both therapists and guests, embodying the spirit of holistic wellbeing.
Your Profile
Leadership Excellence: Proven ability to lead, coach, and inspire a team of specialist spa therapists, backed by experience in a senior role within a high-end spa or luxury wellbeing environment.
Professional Expertise: UK trade qualifications in Holistic Therapies, Massage, and Beauty are essential, with strong hands-on technical skills in a range of therapeutic modalities.
Holistic Passion: A genuine enthusiasm for sharing your knowledge of treatments, wellness philosophies, and exemplary service standards.
Immaculate Presentation: Polished grooming, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to connect effortlessly with guests and colleagues. Fluency in spoken and written English is essential.
Additional Skills (Advantageous): Experience or qualifications in Yoga, Meditation, and/or Watsu therapy.
Service Mindset: You embody modern hospitalityelegant, intuitive, confident, and calm under pressure.
