Mechanical Maintenance Engineer
Location: InvernessSalary: £40,000 – £42,000 basic + on-call & overtime (OTE up to ~£46,700)Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday, days (8:00am–4:30pm)
The Role
An established industrial manufacturing site in Inverness is looking to recruit a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to support site operations across a modern, high-capacity production facility. This is a days-based role offering strong earning potential through a structured on-call rota and overtime.
You'll be part of a skilled engineering team, responsible for maintaining plant reliability, responding to breakdowns, and supporting continuous improvement activities.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive breakdowns
Fault-find and repair mechanical systems and production equipment
Work on bearings, belts, chains, drives, and rotating machinery
Support continuous improvement and reliability initiatives
Carry out inspections to ensure machinery operates safely and efficiently
Work closely with production to minimise downtime
Ensure all work complies with health & safety and site procedures
Complete maintenance records and reports accurately
About You
Qualified Mechanical Engineer (apprenticeship or relevant mechanical qualification)
Experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment
Strong mechanical fault-finding and breakdown skills
Able to work independently and manage your own workload
Reliable, safety-focused, and proactive in approach
Comfortable participating in an on-call rota

Overtime paid at enhanced rates:
Weekdays: 1.5x
Week nights & weekend days: 1.75x
