Do you have a passion or desire to work with people in the community? Mildenhall Integrated Neighbourhood Team (INT) are looking to recruit an Occupational Therapist into the team.

Working with colleagues from across health and social care you will be based at the Mildenhall Health Centre and take an active part in the development and provision of therapy services as part of your role.

The successful candidate will work as part of the therapy team, being supported to develop to cover a variety of roles performed by colleagues in the team.

Using Occupational Therapy skills to assess and implement treatment plans for patients holding a variety of needs, the role provides the opportunity to have a direct impact on the people you will work with. Increasing participation in meaningful activities in creative and dynamic ways with people in their own environments.

You will also have the opportunity to develop and grow within your Occupational Therapy role, learning new skills and developing knowledge relevant to your role within the community.

Main duties of the job

Key Tasks & Responsibilities:

To be an active member of a multi-disciplinary, integrated community team.

To manage a defined caseload, using evidence based/person centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate therapy interventions.

To supervise band 3 and 4 staff.

Person Specification


Education and qualifications

* Current HCPC registration
* Degree in Occupational Therapy
* Up to date manual handling training for the lifting and manoeuvring of clients and equipment during treatment sessions


Experience and knowledge

* Completed clinical placements as a student
* Documented evidence of continuing professional development
* Clinical placement in a community setting
* Post registration experience in a clinical setting
* Advice and support to students and support staff.


Skills and abilities

* Able to demonstrate the ability to work at relevant level
* Demonstrate good IT and standard keyboard skills
* Able to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service
* Practice good interpersonal skills
* Good observational and reporting skills
* Able to plan and provide appropriate levels of clinical intervention
* Ability to analyse professional and ethical issues
* Ability to work within a team setting
* Ability to manage own workload and determine priorities
* Ability to reflect on own performance
* Knowledge of manual handling legislation and risk assessment
* Basic knowledge of specialist equipment
* Able to communicate effectively in both verbal and written forms
* Must hold full and valid driving license and have access to a vehicle or a viable alternative
* Training and facilitation skills.
* Supervisory skills
* Able to support other staff to review and reflect on their practice and develop a PDP
* Knowledge of mental health legislation including CPA and risk assessment and management. Evidence of working at a relevant level
* Knowledge of working within the NHS
* Commitment to person-centered, non-discriminatory practice
* An understanding of hazards associated with lone working in the community
* Occupational Health clearance to carry out duties of role

£31,049 to £37,796 a yearper annum pro rata
