Learning Support Officer
Location: Carrickfergus
Pay Rate: £ per hour + holiday pay
Contract Type: Part-time, Temporary (Ongoing)
Working Hours: 12 hours per week (Mondays and Tuesdays) or 18 hours (Monday-Wednesday)

An established community-based organisation is currently seeking a Learning Support Officer to join their team. This organisation is committed to supporting individuals who face barriers to employment, education, and training. They deliver a range of personalised programmes focused on employability, community development, wellbeing, and skills training, aiming to make a real difference in people's lives.
About the Role
The Learning Support Officer will provide specialist disability support to young people engaged in programmes such as Skills for Life and Work, Training for Success, and Apprenticeships NI. The role involves both direct learner support and associated administrative tasks to ensure accurate and timely documentation of all support provided.
Key Responsibilities
Core Duties
1. Deliver one-to-one and group-based disability support according to a set schedule.
2. Work collaboratively with tutors to implement appropriate specialist support strategies.
3. Assist the Disability Support Coordinator in tracking and reporting progress against performance targets.
4. Encourage learner-centred, independent learning approaches that build confidence and engagement.
5. Maintain up-to-date, accurate records of support provided and promptly raise concerns with the line manager.
General Duties
6. Adhere to the organisation's code of conduct, maintaining professionalism, confidentiality, and quality standards.
7. Comply with internal policies, including those related to health & safety, equality, and data protection.
8. Participate in ongoing training and development to maintain professional standards.
Person Specification
Skills and Competencies
9. Excellent ICT skills, with working knowledge of MS Office including SharePoint, Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint (E)
10. Experience supporting people with disabilities in educational or training environments (D)
11. Ability to work with a range of individuals with diverse support needs (D)
Qualifications & Training
12. Minimum NVQ Level 2 or equivalent, including English and Maths (E)
13. Strong IT skills with the ability to present and manage data effectively (E)
Experience
14. Experience working with young people with varying levels of need and helping them progress toward their goals (E)
