Based at the All England Lawn Tennis Club, the Building Services Electrician is responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of electrical systems across the estate, including both High Voltage (HV) and Low Voltage (LV) infrastructure. Working within a team of five, the role covers planned and reactive maintenance, fault diagnosis, and installation across lighting, power distribution, control systems, and emergency systems. The electrician supports the Club’s year-round operations for its exclusive membership and plays a vital role in delivering seamless electrical services during major events such as The Championships. The role demands a strong understanding of electrical safety regulations and the ability to work collaboratively to uphold the Club’s high standards of reliability, presentation, and performance.
What you will be doing
1. Carry out electrical tasks across all Club properties, including planned and reactive maintenance, fault diagnosis, and installation LV systems, lighting, power distribution, and control systems.
2. Contribute to the year-round operation and upkeep of electrical infrastructure, ensuring readiness for The Championships and maintaining high standards of fit, finish, and reliability.
3. Provide support not only to the electrical team but also to other trades within the Estate Management department as required.
4. Ensure full compliance with business and regulatory health and safety requirements, promoting a safe working environment and monitoring contractor compliance.
5. Assist the Helpdesk team by providing technical advice and feedback on issued tasks, ensuring procedures are accurate and relevant to the identified electrical assets.
6. Participate in training and development activities, maintaining required competencies as outlined in the departmental training matrix.
7. Ensure assigned electrical elements of the Championships build and de-rig schedules are delivered on time and to the expected standard.
8. Review monthly reports on planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive tasks, and other operational activities, identifying areas for improvement and ensuring service continuity and FSI tasks are up to date.
What part your role will play in The Championships
9. Support the build and de-rig phases by installing, testing, and commissioning temporary electrical setups for broadcast, hospitality, and operational areas.
10. Respond rapidly to electrical faults or issues during the event to minimise disruption and maintain service continuity.
11. Work closely with contractors and internal teams to deliver electrical services to Championship standards, ensuring safety, reliability, and presentation.
12. Assist with the setup and maintenance of temporary power supplies, lighting rigs, emergency systems, and power distribution panels required for the event.
13. Monitor and maintain critical systems such as UPS, emergency lighting, and BMS to ensure uninterrupted operation throughout the tournament.
14. Provide technical support to other trades and departments during the Championships, contributing to a seamless and professional delivery.
15. Participate in extended hours or shift patterns as required to support the demands of the event schedule.
16. Maintain detailed records of electrical works carried out during the Championships for compliance and post-event review.
About you
17. NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent
18. 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) certification
19. CSCS Card or equivalent skilled card
20. Inspection & Testing Certification (e.g., City & Guilds 2391 or 2394/2395) – desirable
21. Health & Safety Training – e.g., Manual Handling, Working at Height, Asbestos Awareness (desired)
22. IOSH or equivalent safety management training (desired)
23. HV Authorised Person (AP) training and certification – desirable
24. LV Authorised Person (AP) training and certification – desirable
25. Basic IT skills in Excel, Word, and Outlook
26. Demonstrable experience maintaining electrical systems within an Estate Management department or through an FM service provider in a complex organisation
27. Strong fault-finding skills and ability to follow complex instructions independently or within a team
28. Fully conversant with building regulations and electrical compliance standards for commercial buildings
29. Experience using technical equipment for diagnostics and commissioning of electrical systems
30. Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with consultants, contractors, members, guests, and staff
