About Equinox
Equinox is a specialist Unit4 ERP consultancy. We work with organisations across the public and third sectors to implement, support, and continuously improve their enterprise systems. We are a small, focused team, and we are deliberate about who we bring into it.
We do not do average. Every client engagement carries our name, and we hold ourselves to a standard that reflects that. If you are looking for a role where you can genuinely make a difference to clients, work autonomously, and be part of a team that takes quality seriously, this is it.
The Role
This is a senior functional consulting role covering Unit4 ERP support, implementation, delivery, and client-facing advisory work. You will be the person clients call when they need something done properly. You will own your work from brief to sign-off — managing expectations, configuring solutions, writing reports, and making sure the client walks away with something that actually works.
You do not need to be a developer. But you do need to be comfortable in the system — understanding how it is structured, how to get data out of it, and how to configure it to meet a client's specific needs. SQL and report writing are part of the job. Designing software is not.
This role suits someone who has spent several years in UNIT4 ERP consultancy or in-house Unit4 ERP roles, understands the Finance, Projects, and Timesheets space well, and is ready to operate independently in a client-facing environment.
Core Responsibilities
Client Support & Service Delivery
* Own and resolve Level 2 and Level 3 support tickets across the UNIT4 ERP platform, working to agreed SLAs and communicating clearly with clients throughout
* Act as a trusted point of contact for clients — managing escalations professionally and building long-term relationships based on reliability and expertise
* Diagnose complex functional issues across Finance, Projects, and Timesheets modules and see them through to resolution
* Identify recurring issues and recommend process or configuration improvements proactively
Implementation & Configuration
* Lead or contribute to UNIT4 ERP implementation and module rollout projects, from requirements gathering through to go-live and post-implementation review
* Configure the UNIT4 ERP system to meet client-specific requirements — workflows, approval processes, chart of accounts structures, project hierarchies, and timesheet setups
* Support system upgrades and migrations, including testing coordination and user acceptance
* Produce clear functional design documentation and maintain configuration records throughout delivery
Reporting & Data
* Write and maintain reports using the UNIT4 ERP platform's reporting tools, translating client requirements into outputs that are accurate, usable, and well-documented
* Use SQL to interrogate underlying data, validate outputs, and support data quality work
* Support clients in understanding their data and getting more value from their system's reporting capability
* Contribute to data migration activities during implementations, including mapping, validation, and cleansing support
Training & Client Enablement
* Design and deliver user training — both one-to-one and group sessions — tailored to the client's context and capability level
* Produce supporting documentation that clients can actually use: clear, practical, and specific to their configuration
* Support clients in building their own internal capability where appropriate, rather than creating dependency
Internal Contribution
* Share knowledge across the team — contributing to internal documentation, supporting junior colleagues, and helping raise the collective capability of the practice
* Contribute to Equinox's delivery methodology and quality standards
* Bring ideas to the table: if you spot a better way to do something, say so
* Live and demonstrate the Equinox HEART values in every client and colleague interaction
Person Specification
Essential — required to be considered
Technical & functional expertise
* 5+ years of hands-on functional UNIT4 ERP consultancy or in-house UNIT4 ERP experience, with demonstrable depth across Finance modules (GL, AP, AR, budgeting) and Projects / Timesheets
* Proven ability to configure and support UNIT4 ERP systems independently across multiple client environments
* Solid SQL skills — comfortable querying data, validating report outputs, and troubleshooting data issues without developer support
* Experience writing UNIT4 ERP reports — using platform-native reporting tools, with an understanding of what makes a report accurate, maintainable, and fit for purpose
* Track record of delivering UNIT4 ERP implementations or module rollouts end-to-end, including requirements, configuration, testing, training, and go-live
* Excellent communicator — able to translate system complexity into plain language, and knows when to stop talking and listen
* Confident working directly with clients at all levels, from end users to finance directors
* Strong problem-solving instinct — looks for the root cause, not the quick fix
* Self-directed and organised — manages own workload, meets commitments, and flags risks early
* Collaborative team member — shares knowledge, asks good questions, and makes people around them better
* Growth mindset — stays curious about the platform, follows developments, and invests in their own skills
Desirable — can be developed in role
* Familiarity with Unit4 ERPx (cloud) and an understanding of the platform's direction of travel
* Project management training or accreditation (PRINCE2, APM, or similar)
What Good Looks Like at 12 Months
* You are handling complex support cases independently and clients are telling us you are responsive, reliable, and easy to work with
* You have contributed to at least one implementation or significant module rollout, with a clean handover and a satisfied client
* Your reports are accurate, well-documented, and used — clients are getting real value from the data you have helped them access
* You have shared your knowledge with the team in a way that has made someone else more capable
* You are a recognised expert in the Finance and Projects functional space within Equinox — colleagues come to you first
* You have identified at least one improvement to how we do things and we have acted on it
