PURPOSE OF ROLE:
To provide, effective site supervision over the delivery of minor civil engineering, cable installation and sub-station construction projects, ensuring they are executed to SHEQ requirements, on time and on budget.
MAIN TASKS:
• Close involvement with the Project/Site Management Team, building knowledge of the site construction process, and assisting in this process.
• Assisting the Site Manager with site personnel resources, including site employees and sub-contractors. Supervising the site team in the effective use of such resources, managing workforce issues and developing a team environment.
• Assisting Site Manager by contributing knowledge and expertise to the planning and implementation processes, particularly in the detailed requirements to achieve a successful cable installation.
• Assisting Site Manager to ensure that site personnel can effectively undertake their roles in the daily function of the business, that their roles/tasks are clearly defined and understood and that all personnel are motivated and managed to achieve the business’s objectives.
• Ensure that all teams within the site are supervised and operating to agreed objectives and targets, leading to completion of work to schedule and profitability.
• Should an issue occur which means the RAMS cannot be adhered to, stop the work, advise relevant management, and agree and brief new RAMS before re-starting.
• Accurate and timely delivery of the project on schedule and within budget, allowing for all resources, materials, plant etc to be available as necessary
• Supervise the materials used throughout the project, ensuring that due care is given to current and anticipated stocks, and that these are ordered in a timely and efficient manner.
• Assisting the Site Manager in the responsibility for the service and maintenance of plant and equipment, ensuring that planned and routine maintenance is carried out to minimise breakdowns and to maximise use of each piece of equipment.
• Ensure that good relations with suppliers are maintained so that the most favourable deals are facilitated for the benefit of both the business and the supplier.
• Liaise with the client on site if required in the absence of the Site Manager and represent the Company in meetings with the client in order to provide a customer/client focussed approach to the project, and in the resolving of site related issues, if required.
• Portray a professional image to all external bodies, in the site supervision of the works.
• Compliance with Health and Safety Regulations, and ensuring that policy and procedures are implemented throughout the operations under your responsibility. This will include the ownership and promotion of site health and safety.
• Work with the Quality and Environmental team to ensure that quality and environmental procedures are being implemented and administered.
• Maintain a detailed daily diary, submitted weekly to the Project Manager / Site Manager / Senior Site Supervisor as required.
• Carry out duties allocated by the Project Manager / Site Manager / Senior Site Supervisor in a professional and timely manner to suit the needs of the project and the business. This may include scanning and submission of GRN’s to Head Office, accurate preparation and timely submission of Requisition Orders, plant inspections, etc.
KEY ATTRIBUTES, SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge / Experience:
• Recent relevant site supervisory experience, preferably in Power sector
Skills:
• Strong leadership and motivational skills with the drive and focus to deliver results through teams
• The ability to constructively solve problems both short-term and long-term in a site environment.
• Personal stamina to drive the contract through effective management of the available resources to meet contract deadlines.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both written and orally, providing relevant reports.
Qualifications and Other Requirements:
• SMSTS or IOSH / CSCS / EUSR – BESC & PERSONS
• Fully flexible regarding travel, prepared to travel to site locations and stay away when required
