The Opportunity
Due to business expansion, Pattern Fasteners is seeking an experienced CNC Programmer/Setter Operator to join our Sliding Head team.
We are a fast-paced precision engineering company, manufacturing a wide range of fasteners and non-standard precision components for industries where quality and reliability are critical. All production is completed in-house, using advanced CNC technology and traditional methods.
Key Responsibilities
As CNC Setter Operator, you will:
* Set and operate Citizen Sliding Head & Fixed Head CNC lathes (L20s, L32s – including LFV)
* Set and operate Miyano Fixed Head CNC lathes with Fanuc controls
* Program CNC machines for new jobs using existing G-code templates
* Change tips, drills, tools, and inserts to maintain machine performance
* Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
* Perform first-off inspections and measure parts using vernier calipers, micrometers, ring gauges, and shadowgraphs
* Follow production job card system and maintain production documentation
* Collaborate with other departments to ensure efficient workflow
Key Skills & Experience
The ideal candidate will have:
✅ Proven experience as a CNC Programmer/Setter, CNC Operator, or Sliding Head Setter
✅ Strong knowledge of Citizen sliding head or fixed head lathes and Miyano fixed head lathes
✅ Competence with Fanuc controls and ability to edit and optimise G-code
✅ Ability to work with tight tolerances across a variety of metals
✅ Good understanding of precision engineering and lean manufacturing principles
✅ Proficiency in using precision measuring equipment and following quality procedures
✅ A methodical, detail-oriented approach and commitment to maintaining high-quality standards
