Lead the digital story of global change

We need senior Social Media Strategists (3+ years) to own a “People or Planet” portfolio. You’ll have full autonomy to build high-impact campaigns for our 92+ projects, driving global visibility and mentoring local partners to ensure a digital legacy.

What difference will you make?

Action Change is not a traditional charity that simply funnels aid; we are a disruptive force building long-term, financially sustainable initiatives in partnership with local communities. Our core mission is to move away from the "international rescue" model and toward true local sovereignty. We tackle global issues by setting up robust projects with a clear, documented plan for them to be fully transitioned to the community. We are building an army of local people who are trained, empowered, and ready to support their own futures. This role is the critical bridge that allows that transition to happen. By providing high-level digital expertise, you are helping to build the external visibility and brand authority these local leaders need to become self-sufficient and move away from a reliance on international aid.

Our "People" and "Planet" portfolios are designed to be permanent fixtures of change, but they cannot achieve financial independence without a sophisticated global voice. Your work as a Senior Social Media Lead directly solves the "visibility gap" that often keeps grassroots projects dependent on sporadic donations. By taking ownership of a project’s digital identity, you are creating the professional platform required to attract the long‑term partners and sustainable revenue streams that allow these initiatives to stand on their own two feet. You are providing the digital infrastructure that transforms a local project into a global movement, ensuring that the impact is not just felt today, but is protected for future generations.

Furthermore, your commitment to mentorship is the engine of our empowerment model. You aren't just "doing" social media; you are transferring a high‑value professional skill set to a local community member. This training ensures that when our formal partnership concludes, the project is left with a robust, professional communication strategy and the internal talent to execute it. This mentorship is the most valuable asset you can provide, as it ensures the project remains resilient and visible long after your placement ends.

Ultimately, your contribution allows Action Change to execute its exit strategy. You are the catalyst that turns a project into a self‑sustaining entity. By professionalizing the social media presence of our portfolios, you are driving the engagement and authority needed to fuel our global growth and local independence. You are not just a volunteer; you are a strategic partner.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for a visionary "Player-Coach"—a senior digital professional with at least 3 years of experience who is tired of the status quo and ready to use their craft to break the cycle of international aid dependency. Our ideal candidate is someone who possesses the strategic "gravitas" to architect a global brand narrative and the "grit" to execute the day‑to‑day content that brings that narrative to life. This is not a role for someone who just wants to advise from the sidelines; we need a high‑energy leader who thrives on total creative autonomy and is excited by the challenge of taking a grassroots project from local impact to global visibility. You are someone who understands that a well‑told story is the most powerful tool for social change, and you have the portfolio to prove it.

The most important quality you bring is a "Movement-Maker" mindset. You don't just see social media as a collection of posts; you see it as a strategic engine for community empowerment and financial sustainability. You must be an expert storyteller who can translate raw, technical field data into emotionally resonant, high-converting content that moves an international audience to act. Experience in digital fundraising, brand positioning, or growth marketing is highly desirable, as your success will be measured by the visibility and support you generate for your specific "People" or "Planet" portfolio. You are a self-starter who doesn't need a roadmap—you are the one who builds the roadmap, sets the KPIs, and then hits the 'publish' button to make it happen.

Cultural intelligence and a passion for mentorship are non‑negotiable. Because you will be working as a Digital Consultant for projects in diverse global settings, you must be a sensitive communicator who can navigate different cultural nuances with ease. You aren't just a content creator; you are a teacher. We need someone who is energized by the idea of upskilling a local community member, possessing the patience and clarity to simplify complex digital strategies so that local leaders can eventually take the reins. Your goal is to leave a "digital legacy"—a robust, professional social presence and a trained local successor who can maintain it long after your placement ends.

Finally, we are looking for an "Impact-Hungry" professional who wants to see the direct result of their labor. You should be someone who values transparency, local sovereignty, and long‑term sustainability over "band‑aid" charity work. If you are a senior lead who has spent years building brands for corporate gain and now wants to apply that same level of commercial rigor to save wildlife, empower women, or educate children, this is your platform. You will join an army of like‑minded change‑makers who are dedicated to leaving behind robust, independent projects. We want a volunteer who is ready to take full ownership of their assigned country’s digital identity and prove that a senior expert, given total freedom, can kickstart a movement that changes the world forever.

What will you be doing?

As a Senior Social Media Lead for our International Impact Portfolios, your primary responsibility is to serve as the Strategic Architect for a specific "People" or "Planet" project. Action Change operates 92 different projects worldwide, and while our impact on the ground is immense, our online visibility does not yet reflect the scale of our success. We need a senior professional with at least 3 years of experience to step in and take full ownership of a specific country/community or program’s digital identity. Your role is to help one of these community‑led programs showcase their incredible work and provide them with the strategic spark needed to kickstart a movement. This is a rare opportunity to use your high‑level skills to make a massive, tangible difference for people and ecosystems in urgent need.

You will be tasked with taking grassroots initiatives from local impact to global visibility. This is a "player‑coach" role, meaning we need someone who has the seniority to develop a high‑level strategy but the drive to actually execute the day‑to‑day work too. You will start by auditing the current narratives of your assigned project, identifying the core stories that will resonate with an international audience. From there, you will have full autonomy to recommend, develop, and implement a bespoke social media strategy that turns raw project data into compelling stories. We need you to be the hands‑on creator, owning the end‑to‑end editorial pipeline and maintaining a consistent posting schedule of at least three times per week. You are not just advising; you are the lead voice for that project.

A critical element of this role is sustainability through mentorship. You will not just be posting content; you will be providing training and mentorship to a local community member or project leader on the ground. By sharing your professional expertise, you are upskilling local partners to ensure that once the movement is kickstarted, they have the digital capacity to keep it running. You are essentially building a digital legacy for a project that currently lacks the professional tools to advocate for itself. Whether you are focusing on a "People" project covering education and healthcare or a "Planet" project focusing on wildlife and climate your work will be the direct bridge between urgent field requirements and the global community.

We are looking for someone who thrives on total creative control and is ready to turn "likes" into a global movement. We have the impact, but we need you to provide the spotlight. By taking ownership of a specific project, you are doing more than just managing a social media account; you are functioning as a digital consultant who is directly responsible for the project’s international reputation. This role is remote and we estimate around 5-10 hours a week but very flexible as we know our best volunteers also have high demanding jobs too!
