Deputy Director for Environmental Markets & Regulation - 30904
We are seeking a strategic leader to support the delivery of emerging and existing regulatory regimes within the Environment Agency, focusing on environmental markets and regulation. This role involves managing specialist operational teams, working with government, industry, and partner regulators to ensure high-impact service delivery, and providing expert regulatory direction.
The successful candidate will demonstrate proven operational leadership, experience in managing complex work programmes, and excellent communication skills. They will operate autonomously, translating policy into impactful delivery, and navigate complex political and regulatory environments effectively.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Providing strategic leadership and management of operational teams.
2. Collaborating with stakeholders across government, industry, and regulators.
3. Championing health, safety, wellbeing, diversity, and inclusion within the team.
4. Contributing to wider organisational goals through leadership groups.
This role reports to Malcolm Lythgo, Director of Operations of National Regulation & Monitoring, with virtual briefings and interviews scheduled for May and July 2025. The role requires incident response readiness and a professional background in any discipline.
