We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Radiographer to join our friendly and supportive Radiology team at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, Aylesbury.

We are looking for a highly skilled and ambitious Radiographer who likes a challenge, with at least 18 months post qualification experience.
We have recently had an extensive equipment replacement programme with a second MRI scanner recently being installed plus replacement of our General Fluoroscopy room, Interventional suite and General x-ray rooms.
This post will be based at Stoke Mandeville but the successful applicant will be expected to work cross-site as required. There is a requirement to participate in the out of hours service which includes weekend work and night shifts.
Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust covers 6 Hospital sites, 2 Acute and 4 community hospitals, the Stoke Mandeville site provides a full range of services including a busy A&E as well as its world renowned National Spinal Injuries Centre.
There are dedicated staff and training facilities in each Department and an active audit/teaching programme. The departments also provide clinical placements for undergraduate students and Apprenticeship training. We are keen to develop and train staff and support radiographer role extension, including U/S guided prostate biopsies, PICC line insertions, Barium Swallows and Reporting.
Main duties of the job
1. Work without supervision in designated specialised and general areas of imaging, managing own workload and organisation of junior colleagues.
2. Vet and accept imaging requests and advising medical officers of the appropriateness of requests.
3. To undertake intravenous injection of contrast media by hand or by high pressure injector (over 16 years old) in line with the injection policy.
4. To undertake equipment quality assurance in line with QA programmes and takes appropriate action.
5. Interpret images sufficient to discuss with a Consultant Radiologist further sequences within agreed protocols. In absence of Radiologist use experience and judgement of previous cases to take further images to demonstrate an area of abnormality.
6. Use of advanced imaging software in CT and MRI software to produce required images and measurements.

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING
Essential criteria
17. Degree or equivalent in Radiography
18. Evidence of CPD and attendance at relevant short courses
19. Certificate in IV Injections
20. HPC Registration
Desirable criteria
21. Post Graduate Certificate
EXPERIENCE
Essential criteria
22. Strong experience in radiography including out of hours work
23. Experience of Quality Assurance or up-to-date knowledge of Health & Safety and Risk Assessment issues
24. Supervision and training of junior colleagues
25. Experience working in the NHS
