This agency is a specialist provider of digital technology solutions to the sports industry, with a flagship proprietary PaaS (Platform as a Service) product for over 70 leading sports organisations. As they enter their next phase of growth, they are seeking a Head of Development to lead and shape their engineering function, evolving the platform and delivery teams to meet growing demand across UK and global markets. The Role We’re seeking a senior front-end developer and team leader with strong agency-side experience, capable of managing both people and platforms in a fast-paced, stakeholder facing environment. You’ll lead a development team of 8–10 engineers across frontend, backend, and mobile, identifying and mentoring key individuals as the business expands. About the Role Lead, mentor, and manage a development team of 8–10 engineers, across multiple disciplines. Identify and develop future leaders within the team as the business scales. Set and evolve the technical direction of both our core PaaS product and client projects. Provide strategic oversight while contributing hands-on to front-end feature delivery. Maintain high standards for code quality, performance, and scalability. Collaborate with design, delivery, and commercial teams to scope and deliver work on time. Act as a senior technical voice in stakeholder engagements, including planning, reviews, and demos. Foster a culture of ownership, innovation, and continual learning within the engineering team. About You 6 years in front-end or full-stack development within a digital agency setting. Past experience leading development teams, including line management and mentoring. Deep expertise in Vue.js, Nuxt.js, and TypeScript, plus strong HTML/CSS fundamentals. Skilled within CMS platforms and content publishing workflows. Familiarity with RESTful APIs, Git workflows, and Agile/SCRUM methodologies. Solid understanding of scalable, maintainable software architecture. Confident communicator in client-facing environments — able to run workshops and technical discussions. Comfortable balancing hands-on development with high-level technical direction and team management. Experience working on SaaS/PaaS products or large-scale content platforms.
