Position Overview
The Technical Support Engineer will support the sales teams, customers, and stakeholders in providing technical advice to develop and successfully implement products and service solutions to meet customer needs. The primary objective is to develop business development relationships with sales, customers and sub-contractors and deliver work to a high standard. This role is based in the Basingstoke office with travel as needed to customer sites.
Key Responsibilities
* Accountable for the procurement of all equipment and subcontracts works related to all projects in your control.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential customers, acting as a trusted point of contact.
* Accountable for inbound and outbound calls to suppliers, sales teams, customers, and stakeholders.
* Communicate complex technical engineering activities to non‑technical stakeholders.
* Manage high volume and fast‑paced work, being flexible and adaptable during each project while keeping customers updated.
* Attend site visits with Sales Engineers and stakeholders to advise and produce costings and quotes on installation projects.
Internal Controls and Processes
* Participate in review of new projects to finalise designs of new orders at commercial level.
* Attend project handover with the customer to confirm scope and timeline requirements.
* Produce detailed project plans and troubleshoot technical engineering scenarios.
* Coordinate equipment parts and subcontractors to ensure required deadlines are achieved.
* Provide technical support to clients and sales engineers, coordinating projects.
* Manage installation and commissioning of industrial cooling systems to ensure technical correctness to an acceptable standard.
* Manage engineers/teams on site, ensuring contract agreements are met and health and safety standards maintained.
* Identify resources and assign responsibilities.
* Financially control projects, including budgeting and costs.
Skills and Capabilities
* Knowledge of manufacturing industry is an advantage.
* Project Engineer background is an advantage.
* Knowledge of chilled fluid applications is an advantage.
* Project Management with intermediate commercial experience.
* People and communication skills with a positive mindset.
* Ability to work with minimal supervision.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
* National travel and ability to travel to other countries when required.
* Right to work in the UK and current clean driver’s licence.
