The client Our client is a well-established and highly respected MEP contractor operating across London and the South East. Specialising in the design and delivery of mechanical and electrical services, they support a wide range of sectors including residential, commercial, education, healthcare and leisure. Due to this continued growth, they are now looking to recruit a Mechanical Estimator to join their experienced pre-construction team.The Role As Mechanical Estimator, you will be responsible for producing accurate and competitive estimates for mechanical services on a variety of new build and refurbishment projects. Working closely with the Pre-Construction Manager and wider commercial team, your role will be integral in helping the business win and deliver profitable, well-designed projects across a range of sectors.Key responsibilities will include interpreting drawings and specifications, preparing tender submissions, conducting supplier/subcontractor enquiries, attending site visits, and working with design and operational teams to ensure that bids are aligned with the company's technical and commercial objectives.You will play a key part in ensuring the company maintains its high standards of quality and cost control, and will have the opportunity to shape bid strategy on a project-by-project basis.The requirement You will have a background in mechanical building services with strong estimating experience, ideally gained within an M&E contracting environment. A solid understanding of mechanical systems in commercial and residential developments is essential, as well as the ability to read technical drawings, produce take-offs, and price projects from first principles.Experience using estimation software and tools is preferred, and familiarity with both D&B and traditional contract arrangements is advantageous.
Youll be an excellent communicator, confident working in a fast-paced pre-construction team, and motivated by producing high-quality, commercially competitive tenders.The package The client is looking for the right person to join the business in a key pre-construction role and will offer a competitive and flexible package to reflect this.As a guide, the salary is likely to be in the region of £60,000 £70,000, depending on experience, with the potential for performance-based bonuses.
