SEMH Teaching Assistant Location: Sheffield (S11) Salary: £95 – £120 per day (Depending on Experience) Start Date: Immediate Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long Term, Full-time / Part-time Are you passionate about supporting children with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs? GSL Education are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistants to join schools across Sheffield. About the Role: As an SEMH Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA), you will work closely with teachers and support staff to provide tailored support for pupils with SEMH needs. You will help create a positive and nurturing environment that promotes learning, independence, and personal development. SEMH Teaching Assistant Responsibilities: Support pupils with SEMH needs both in the classroom and in small group interventions. Assist the class teacher with preparing and delivering lessons that engage and motivate pupils. Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies. Foster strong relationships with pupils, staff, and parents. Maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment. SEMH TA Requirements: Experience working with children in an educational or SEMH setting. CACHE Level 2/3, NVQ Level 2/3 in Childcare, Teaching Assistance, or equivalent qualifications preferred. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Understanding of SEMH needs and behaviour management strategies. Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
