The Role StorMagic is recruiting a Contractor to provide t echnical w rit ing services for a 3 mo nth eng agement to help us produce high-quality, customer-facing product documentation. Y ou will help create technical documentation for end users and system administrators such as online Installation Guides, Administrator Guides, API Guides and Release Notes. During this engagement, you will work directly with product management and engineering teams across the software development lifecycle to deliver product documentation for major and minor releases of existing and/or upcoming new products. Responsibilities: Research, outline, author, write and edit product documentation content, working closely with various cross-functional teams. Gather information from subject-matter experts to develop, organise, and write procedure manuals, product and process documentation, such as Installation Guides, Administrator Guides, API Guides and Release Notes, etc. Work with Product Management, R&D and Technical Support leads to identify product documentation needs. Prepare content for online publishing. Review the human-readable strings in user facing graphical interface. Requirements & Skills: Proven working experience in technical writing of software documentation Ability to deliver high quality documentation paying attention to detail Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable in text and pictures Excellent written skills in English (C1/C2) Familiarity with MadCap Flare Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Familiarity with the SDLC and software development Technical background with understanding and/or hands-on experience with virtual servers and storage. Ability to work cross-functionally and lead multi-team projects with varied stakeholders such as product managers, engineers, sales, and marketing staff Be data driven, with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail Education & Experience: University degree in Computer Science, other technical fields or Journalism 3 years professional work experience as a Technical Writer Knowledge of information design, structured writing; HTML, XML and CSS is a strong plus. Excellent command of the English language - ability to edit and organise information, ability to explain clearly complex software concepts, and create accurate procedural and product information Solid planning and scheduling skills, experience working within tight deadlines
