New Directions Education is recruiting for a Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join a warm and welcoming primary school in Birkenhead. This is a full-time, long-term position starting January 2026, working within the EYFS department and supporting children with SEN.

About the Role:
This lovely school is looking for a confident, nurturing and creative TA to join their early years team. The role involves supporting both the class as a whole and providing targeted support to children with additional learning needs. You’ll play a big part in helping the children develop socially, emotionally, and academically during these crucial early years.
Your Responsibilities:
– Supporting learning through play-based activities
– Providing 1:1 and small-group SEN support
– Assisting with personal care where needed
– Helping implement EHCP targets and early interventions
– Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO
– Creating a safe, engaging and inclusive environment for all children
What We’re Looking For:
– Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching & Learning (or equivalent)
– Strong experience within EYFS
– Previous experience supporting pupils with SEN (ASD, speech & language, global delay, etc.)
– A warm, patient and enthusiastic approach
– Ability to build relationships with children, staff and parents
– A passion for early years education

As a teaching assistant you’ll be expected to:
15. Assist in the educational and social development of pupils under the direction and guidance of the head teacher, ALNCO and class teachers
16. Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Programmes (IEP) for students and help monitor their progress
17. Provide support for individual students inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in activities
18. Assist class teachers with maintaining student records
19. Support students with emotional or behavioural problems and help develop their social skills.
