Director, Head of Capital Requirements and Capital Communications
Job Description
Purpose of the role
To optimise the bank's capital structure to support its growth objectives, manage risk exposure, and comply with regulatory requirements by analysing the bank's capital position, developing capital allocation strategies, and ensuring that the bank maintains adequate capital levels under various economic scenarios.
Accountabilities
* Developing and implementing strategies to manage the bank's capital position, including setting capital targets, developing capital plans, and monitoring capital adequacy.
* Optimising the bank's capital structure to support growth and profitability objectives, including managing regulatory capital requirements.
* Allocating capital to business units and projects based on risk-adjusted returns and other financial metrics.
* Preparing and providing regular reports on the bank's capital position, allocation decisions, and stress testing results to senior management, risk committees, and regulators, along with effective communication of strategies and risk considerations to stakeholders.
Director Expectations
* Managing a business function, contributing to strategic initiatives, and influencing policies and procedures within the function.
* Leading a large team or managing organization-wide projects, coaching less experienced staff, and making strategic decisions affecting long-term profits and risks.
* Providing expert advice to senior management and committees, influencing decisions beyond the immediate function.
* Managing resourcing, budgeting, and policy creation for significant sub-functions.
* Ensuring compliance with policies and regulations, and engaging with external regulators and advocacy groups as needed.
* Demonstrating extensive industry knowledge and external market insights.
* Utilizing advanced analytical skills to solve complex problems and design solutions.
* Making significant strategic decisions within their area, negotiating with stakeholders, and acting as a principal contact for key clients and divisions.

The ideal candidate will have substantial leadership experience, relevant expertise, and a proven track record in a fast-paced environment.
The key accountabilities include risk management related to capital requirements, efficient capital use, maintaining risk appetite, managing external communications, and analyzing external factors and peer benchmarks.
