An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced nurse to join the Gynaecology Clinical Service Line. This role is ideally suited to a nurse with a strong passion for quality governance who is looking to apply and further develop their expertise within a supportive and collaborative team. The successful candidate will bring substantial experience at a senior level and possess an excellent understanding of clinical governance principles and practice.
The Quality Governance Nurse will be a key member of the Women’s Health Governance Team within Bedfordshire Hospitals. This is a cross‑site position, requiring regular engagement and close working relationships with colleagues across both hospital sites to ensure consistent, high‑quality governance support and oversight.
Main duties of the job
Co-ordinate the implementation of a CSL quality and safety clinical governance programme with associated improvements linked to the Trust’s overall agenda.
To coordinate the optimal use of Trust’s Incident reporting system within the CSL and support in the investigation of incidents where appropriate.
Support the Local Incident Review processes within CSL to ensure appropriate incident classification and escalation for further review.
Lead and support PSIRF methodology including supporting the wider MDT in writing PSII reports.
Support the wider governance team in facilitating AARs and MDT reviews
Assemble and analyse quantitative and qualitative information (with service line leads) in ways that assist staff in reflecting and improving on service delivery and practice.
In liaison with CSL resource (Head of Nursing, Matron, CSL Clinical Governance and Audit Lead, Clinical Director and General Manager) coordinate the compilation of relevant CSL reports which assist with monitoring and enhancing its approach to the management of clinical quality and safety enabling the CSL to provide appropriate assurance to the Trust in relation to clinical quality (through regular reports to the relevant Clinical, Governance, and Quality Committees).

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Working closely within Gynaecology Clinical Service Line (CSL) level to provide support, facilitation and guidance for a range of Quality Governance activities which align with the strategic view and intent across Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
This role encompasses patient safety and clinical risk management and clinical effectiveness programmes in addition to regulatory compliance activities and the post holder will work closely with the clinical service line staff and management teams. Therefore, a key focus will be relationship building, staff involvement and engagement with clinicians across the wider quality governance and safety agenda and associated programmes of work.
The appointee will play a key role in assisting the CSLs to identify and define the information needs in order to monitor clinical effectiveness, patient safety and quality output of the services provided and in liaison with CSL resources the post holder will assist the development of robust systems and processes in relation to clinical governance and quality.
The post holder will also work to develop and maintain relationships between CSLs and the corporate quality governance team to ensure that incidents are managed and investigated in accordance with the relevant Trust policy.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
1. Post registration Master’s degree in nursing or related field or working at relevant senior level
2. Significant continuing professional development relevant to the post
3. Registered Nurse (NMC)
Desirable criteria
4. Masters or equivalent level management qualification or equivalent experience or working towards
Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria
5. Demonstrable significant experience of working at a senior level in or with a governance team
6. Knowledge of all aspects of modern quality and safety governance with experience of coordinating quality governance activities across a range disciplines.
7. Experience of undertaking Investigations
8. Knowledge and understanding of regulation requirements related to Care Quality Commission compliance
9. Experience of participation in delivery of training packages either within a clinical audit/effectiveness setting or other clinical governance discipline
Desirable criteria
10. Knowledge and experience of assisting the development and monitoring of clinical care pathways
11. Experience of achieving objectives in rapidly changing environment
