Role Summary:
As a Product Design Engineer, you will help to shape the vision for our products, playing a key role in designing, prototyping, testing, and scaling innovative equipment using cold plasma technology for food processing and agricultural applications. This role requires a multidisciplinary mindset, combining mechanical engineering with a practical understanding of product design for manufacturing (DFM). You will report directly to the CEO and work in cooperation with the CTO and COO to bring novel products to life.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the design and development of the mechanical systems of Plasma Fresh products.
* Tranourslate product requirements from clients into engineering specifications and design solutions.
* Lead iterative design cycles, including CAD modelling and rapid prototyping.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams (plasma science, microbiology, food technology) to validate product performance.
* Support testing, data collection, and analysis of product performance in lab and field environments.
* Work with suppliers and manufacturing partners on component selection, fabrication, and assembly.
* Ensure products meet safety standards, regulatory requirements, and usability criteria.
* Drive continuous improvement and cost optimization of products.
Must Have:
* Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Product Design, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
* 3+ years of experience in product development, prototyping, and testing of hardware products.
* Strong CAD skills (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or equivalent).
* Experience working with electromechanical systems.
* Practical, hands-on approach to build and test prototypes.
* Excellent problem-solving skills and curiosity-driven mindset.
Nice to Have:
* Experience with methodologies of product development (e.g: Design thinking, agile, etc..)
* Knowledge of industrial design
