Job Tile: Regulatory Lead
Location: Castle Donington or Tipton (2 days/week onsite)
Duration: 6 months (possible extension)
Rate: £500 per day (Umbrella, Inside IR35)
Play a key role in shaping the future of energy regulation.
We're seeking a strategic and collaborative Regulatory Lead to support the development of a major electricity distribution business plan and regulatory submissions. This is a high-impact opportunity to influence policy, engage with senior stakeholders, and contribute to the future of energy infrastructure in the UK.
Role Responsibilities
Stay informed on Ofgem's Business Plan Guidance and brief internal teams and SMEs as needed.
Collaborate with colleagues to scope, plan and deliver outputs across multiple workstreams, engaging with business leads, SMEs, and third parties.
Provide regulatory expertise within governance and working groups to support development of the ED3 business plan.
Encourage cross-team collaboration and help resolve any delivery challenges.
Escalate risks and issues to Executive Sponsors with clear recommendations.
Maintain alignment across interdependent workstreams within the ED3 programme.
Draft and review regulatory documents including business plans, consultation responses, and supplementary materials, engaging with internal teams to ensure quality and consistency.
Monitor regulatory changes and coordinate responses across relevant departments.
Ensure business plans and policies reflect both strategic objectives and regulatory requirements.
Respond to regulatory information requests, interpreting requirements and coordinating input.
Track developments in the regulatory landscape and assess potential impacts.
Benchmark performance against other DNOs.
Engage with senior stakeholders to incorporate diverse perspectives into submissions.
Support the wider regulatory team with ad hoc tasks and strategic initiatives.Essential Skills & Experience:
Strong understanding of regulatory environments (e.g. Ofgem, Ofwat).
Excellent writing and communication skills.
Stakeholder engagement and cross-functional collaboration.
Degree-level education or equivalent experience.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
Engineering background to straddle technical and regulatory domains.
Experience in electricity, gas, or water sectors.
