Supportive senior management who promote reflective practice, learning sessions, and team away days.About the Role As an Independent Safeguarding and Reviewing Officer, you will: Chair Child Protection Conferences and Looked After Children (LAC) Reviews in line with statutory requirements. Provide independent oversight and challenge to ensure children's care and protection plans are effective, proportionate, and timely. Champion the voice of the child, ensuring participation and engagement at every stage. Contribute to the quality assurance of safeguarding and care planning processes across the council. Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners to deliver SMART, outcome-focused plans. Uphold high standards of professional challenge, reflective practice, and restorative engagement. Provide consultation and guidance to social workers, managers, and partner agencies on complex safeguarding cases. Contribute to policy development, service improvement, and workforce learning.Requirements To be successful in this role, you will need: A recognised Social Work qualification (Degree, CQSW, or DipSW). Social Work England registration. Extensive post-qualification experience in safeguarding, child protection, and looked-after children work. Proven ability to chair complex multi-agency meetings. Strong working knowledge of: The Children Act 1989 and 2004 IRO Handbook (2010) Working Together to Safeguard Children 2020 Children and Social Work Act 2017 Excellent report writing, analytical and communication skills.
