We are seeking to recruit a Research Assistant in Health Data Sciences to join the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences (NDORMS), based at the Botnar Research Centre, Oxford.
As a Research Assistant, your primary duties will include supporting the analysis of real-world data mapped to the OMOP Common Data Model, contributing to project planning, proposing new research ideas, and determining appropriate methodologies to test hypotheses. You will also contribute to scientific reports, journal articles, and present data at conferences, maintaining effective communication with research team members and collaborators.
You should hold a relevant postgraduate degree in Mathematics, Engineering, Health Data Sciences, or Biostatistics, with experience in statistics and/or health data sciences, and knowledge of programming in R and/or Python. Self-motivation, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams are essential. Experience with OMOP-mapped data analysis and academic research environments is desirable but not essential.
The NDORMS Pharmaco- and Device Epidemiology Research Group conducts national and international studies on drug, procedure, and device use in real-world conditions, collaborating globally to assess safety and effectiveness. As a Research Assistant, you will support analysis of healthcare data, develop analytic code, and contribute to open-source software packages.
This is a Grade 6 position with a salary of £34,982 - £38,674 per annum, pro rata. It is a part-time (50% FTE, minimum 30%), fixed-term role for 12 months.
