The Role
: Head of Emerging Technologies Platform
This executive position is central to KPMG's technology strategy, focusing on the leadership, management, and evolution of our platform for emerging AI technologies. You will be responsible for driving innovation and ensuring the platform meets the needs of KPMG's global network.
Working with engineering, data science, and business stakeholders, you will design and implement a comprehensive roadmap aligned with KPMG's organisational goals and technological advancements. A core aspect of this role involves overseeing platform governance to ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and ethical guidelines, while maintaining the integrity and security of our global technology infrastructure. This includes applying best practices in data governance, model transparency, and bias mitigation to enhance platform performance and scalability, with a focus on optimising AI platforms and agents, including the Workbench product.
You will also serve as a strategic advisor, translating business requirements into actionable strategies and managing backlog prioritisation to ensure technical feasibility and business alignment. Monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) will be crucial for assessing platform effectiveness and driving iterative improvements. This role requires strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to influence technological change across KPMG.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Alignment and Roadmap Implementation: Develop and communicate a strategy for the AI-driven technology platform (including Workbench and aIQ chat products), ensuring alignment with KPMG’s long-term goals. Collaborate with teams to integrate AI platforms and agents, design roadmaps for innovative AI capabilities, and advise senior stakeholders. Facilitate collaboration across member firms and global functions for AI and emerging technologies.
2. Operations and Support: Oversee successful operations and support for emerging technologies and global AI applications, working with internal and external teams. Ensure high standards of performance, scalability, and security, adhering to regulations and ethical guidelines. Lead initiatives to enhance platform integration with emerging technologies and implement data governance best practices to optimise resource utilisation and cost efficiency.
3. Leadership & Team Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a diverse team, ensuring effective program implementation and continuous improvement. Manage global vendor relationships, including SLA adherence, and contribute to budget planning. Represent Global Enterprise Technology in various forums, fostering collaboration and promoting accountability.
Experience and Qualifications:
4. Leadership Experience: A minimum of 20 years in senior leadership roles, demonstrating complex decision-making, adaptability, consistent performance during change, and effective communication.
5. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
6. Strategic and Operational Expertise: In-depth knowledge of strategic solution delivery models and organisational design, with a proven ability to drive innovation and align resources.
7. Executive Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence, negotiate, and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
8. Team Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead high-performing teams, motivate cross-functional groups, and manage effectively in uncertain environments.
9. Project and Change Management: Strong project management skills, capable of prioritising multiple initiatives, developing strategic plans, and leading transformation in fast-paced settings.
10. Business Insight: Proven experience in translating business needs into actionable strategies and delivering measurable outcomes from enterprise-wide initiatives.
