Specialty Doctor in Healthy Ageing Service
10 Sessions per week
Applications are invited to join The Healthy Ageing Service (HAS) and be part of a multidisciplinary team comprising Medical Staff, Registered Mental Health Nurses, Mental Health Practitioners, non-medical prescribers, Care Home Liaison Practitioner, Health Care Assistants, Clinical Psychologists, Occupational Therapist, and administrative staff.
The successful candidate will be highly motivated, energetic, and passionate about delivering high-quality care to patients suffering from mental health problems. They should have experience of team working, possess sound organisational skills, and be able to work on their own initiative. Effective communication and empathic skills are essential.
The post-holder will be part of a medical team consisting of a Consultant Psychiatrist and a Trainee Doctor. The position requires full GMC registration, and we are seeking a candidate with experience in general adult psychiatry.
The successful applicant must possess a valid and current driver’s license.

Main Duties of the Job
1. Initial assessment, investigation, and management of patients with mental health issues.
2. Follow-up of patients to monitor progress.
3. Comprehensive review of notes, making detailed and accurate but concise summaries of complex mental health histories.
4. Initiating psychotropic medications, titrating, and monitoring for side effects and physical parameters.
5. Liaison with other teams or medical specialties to optimize treatment outcomes.
6. Electronic documentation of a high standard and effective communication with primary care, secondary mental health services, and medical specialties.
7. Carrying out domiciliary visits with colleagues.
8. Supporting inpatient elderly care at the in-patient unit TOPAS as required.

Person Specification
Education & Qualifications
Essential:
* Primary Medical Degree
* Full GMC Registration with Licence to Practise
Desirable:
* MRCPsych (or equivalent)
* Section 12 MHA Approved
* Additional relevant postgraduate qualification
Experience, Skills, and Abilities
Essential:
* At least 3 years UK experience as a Psychiatric trainee or Specialty Doctor in old age or general adult psychiatry.
