Contract: Temporary ongoing until December (potential extension for the right candidate)
Location: Keele - Newcastle Under Lyme ST5
Pay Rate: £20.00 per hour paid weekly
Hours: FULL TIME Monday - Thursday 08:30-16:45, Friday - 08:30-16:30
Blue Arrow are working in partnership with an award-winning further education provider, who have various Joiner and Maintenance opportunities available. They are currently looking for multiple joiners to undertake repair works & fitting to fire doors on site, along with other maintenance jobs to support their education facility. You will be helping and supporting the site to improve their facilities, along with working closely with other trades within the Campus to coordinate the necessary works to be carried out.
Responsibilities
* Carrying out a full range of repairs, maintenance, and planned improvement duties with the emphasis on multi-skilled works across the University's estate.
* Changing and fitting door hinges
* Intumescent strips
* Adjusting gaps in doors to ensure sealed correctly in case of a fire
* Installing drop down seals
* Replacing handles
* Carpentry and joinery work
* Locksmith Work
* Changing door closers
* Always work within Health and Safety legislation and guidelines; prepare work areas and use PPE
* Safe use and storage of tools and equipment
* Carry out Risk Assessments as required, including permits for work and checking registers (e.g., Asbestos)
* Liaise with stores to ensure correct materials and equipment are available
* Respond to urgent calls outside normal hours and carry out planned work, possibly using University vehicles
* Work may occur in confined spaces or at height, in noisy or adverse weather conditions
* Provide high-quality customer service within KPIs
* Assist with maintenance of university vehicles used for works
* Be flexible and undertake tasks within competence and practicality
* Assist colleagues and undertake cleaning and labouring duties
* Erection of access equipment, use of mobile platforms, working at heights

* Are hardworking, team players and not fazed by outdoor work
* Have access to their own tools
* Able to communicate effectively and follow directions
* Punctual and reliable
* Physically capable of performing the work
* Adaptable to a variety of tasks as instructed
Requirements
* Safety boots and PPE
* A woodwork machinery qualification according to PUWER
* Substantial post-qualification experience
* Experience in first and second fix joinery
* Experience with bench machinery
* Experience reading construction drawings
* Full experience of working as a Joiner
* Ability to work collaboratively when required
* Participate in a 24/7 emergency 'call out' service on a 52 week rota, including fault finding, making safe, and carrying out repairs
