About the role
We are now recruiting an experienced postdoctoral researcher to join the Hall Lab at UCL and work on an exciting projects defining how brain function is affected by a dysfunctional vasculature, and how blood vessels become damaged during dementia. You will shape how we study how vascular and neuronal function change in the brain during dementia risk, early dementia, and during mild disruptions to the brain’s energy supply. Projects will combine two photon microscopy of calcium signals, vascular flow and inflammatory changes alongside molecular and biochemical approaches to dissect mechanisms producing neurovascular changes.
As a senior member of the lab you will also be expected to take on responsibility for manging more junior colleagues and ensuring the smooth running of the lab and team.
The role is available from 01 January and funded by the British Heart Foundation/UK DRI for two years in the first instance.

About you
You’ll have a PhD in neuroscience or engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or a related field, and prior postdoctoral experience in vascular or neurovascular research, including experience of managing or supervising staff and/or students. A strong background in statistical analysis, in-depth experience of in vivo 2 photon imaging of neurons and blood vessels, and mouse surgery and stereotactic surgery skills are essential, as is an understanding of and interest in the research work of the UK DRI, and excellent organisational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
This role meets the eligibility requirements for a skilled worker certificate of sponsorship or a global talent visa under UK Visas and Immigration legislation. Therefore, UCL welcomes applications from international applicants who require a visa.
