Position Details
Start date: June or September, depending on notice period or university completion.
Candidate Requirements
You must be sincere and understand why you want to work with autistic students and children with potential or mental health challenges. This role involves working with both verbal and nonverbal students.
Opportunities
This role provides exposure to therapists, SEN staff, ABA tutors, and mental health specialists. It is an excellent training ground for careers in mainstream and SEN teaching, observing OTs, Speech and Language Therapists, and more. The goal is to give children a sense of purpose and improve their lives.
School Environment
* Specialist school for children aged 7-19 with tailored curricula using positive reinforcement
* Focus on learning needs, including ADHD, Asperger’s, OCD, Dyslexia, and social, emotional, and mental health challenges
* Outstanding support teams, holistic and positive atmosphere from EYFS to KS4
* Involvement of OTs, Speech and Language Therapists, and external agencies based on individual needs
Role Details
Working hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
This is a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) role designed to build foundational experience in challenging contexts, including anti-social behaviors. De-escalation and language around it are crucial skills.
Approach and Focus
Restorative and holistic practices are employed. The role specializes in working with students with Autism, Asperger’s, OCD, Global Development Delay, and some profound and multiple learning difficulties.
