Project Officer - Grade 10
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and proactive Project Officer to join our newly established Capital Projects Team within Corporate - Design and Maintenance.
Following a recent departmental restructure, this dedicated team has been created to deliver a diverse and ambitious portfolio of non‑education built‑asset projects. These include modern care home developments, regeneration schemes that support vibrant communities, and innovative energy and sustainability projects that help shape a greener future for the county.
This is a pivotal moment for the department as we build on our strong track record of successful project delivery. As a key member of a multi‑disciplinary team of property professionals, you will report to the Senior Project Delivery Manager and support the smooth and effective delivery of a variety of capital projects.
About the Role
In this role, you will:
* Assist in developing and maintaining programmes of work across multiple projects
* Prepare clear and timely reports, data, and project documentation
* Support the procurement and management of consultants and contractors
* Take individual responsibility for allocated tasks in line with workload demands
* Work alongside Project Managers to support pre‑ and post‑contract activities
* Visit major construction sites and assist with construction monitoring duties
* Liaise with stakeholders, consultants, contractors, external agencies, and the public
* Take individual responsibility in support of the Senior Project Delivery Manager as the workload dictates.
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
* A natural problem‑solver and strategic thinker
* Professionally qualified in a relevant discipline
* Confident using IT, with strong knowledge of MS Office
* Familiar with MS Project and design/technical software such as AutoCAD, Revit or Revizo
* A strong communicator who can work both independently and as part of a team
* Able to adapt quickly to changing priorities and respond professionally in challenging situations
* Diplomatic, motivated, and committed to continuous improvement
This role offers a fantastic opportunity to contribute to high‑profile, meaningful projects that directly enhance services, support communities, and improve built environments across the area.
The hours of work are 37 per week and may be worked in accordance with the Council's flexible working hours scheme. The post will be based within the Corporate Estates Design/Project Management Team at Valleys Innovation Centre, Navigation Park, Abercynon, Mountain Ash, CF45 4SN.
