About the role

An opportunity has arisen for qualified Plaster Technicians to join the Trust Bank Team. We are a well-established team working across three sites, supporting a comprehensive range of orthopaedic and trauma speciality clinics. Shifts range from 08:00-18:00 weekdays and 08:30-12:30 weekends.

The applicant must have a BOA certificate with at least one year of experience working in post.

The post holder must be trained in all aspects of casts, splints and braces and will be accountable for all aspects of care provided.

Main duties of the job

Qualified Plaster Technicians will carry out and supervise prescribed treatments, while demonstrating evidence-based practice, and complying with the British Orthopaedic Association guidelines.

Provide casting and splinting support within clinics while also giving support and advice to patients and carers to enable optimum treatment and promote self care.

Job responsibilities

As a Plaster Technician you will be in charge of running the plaster room, under the direct supervision of the management team. It is therefore important to be able to manage your own workload, while ensuring effective and efficient utilisation of resources and the organising of staff appropriately. The role will require you to work as an autonomous practitioner and in compliance with local policies and procedures.

Your workload will be allocated from clinic, the Emergency Department and theatre, the extent of which will differ daily.

Advanced communication skills are an integral part of this role and you must be able to receive and interpret complex information to ensure the correct and highest standard of care and treatment is provided.

A high standard of documentation is paramount within this role, therefore interpreting and recording information accurately to and from patient notes is of the utmost importance.

This role involves working across three sites to cover the needs and demands of the service.
