Balfour Beatty VINCI (BBV) is not only working on the civil infrastructure of HS2 but is also embarking on the construction of complex buildings. Specifically, we are focusing on the design and build of industrial Concreate frame structures, including the vital headhouses for HS2's tunnel ventilation and pumping systems. This is all part of the next phase of construction, and we are looking for candidates with experience in build projects, especially those familiar with industrial Concreate frames, such as warehouses or large commercial buildings. As part of the team, you will work on the West Midlands section of HS2, delivering essential 'surface' structures that ensure the safety and functionality of the underground rail network.
There is a total of 5 buildings that will provide ventilation, power, and access to the track below ground. Now is the perfect time to join us as we expand our expertise into the build sector, offering unique challenges and opportunities. The build of the project will consist of Piling and Groundworks, Drainage Systems, Concreate Frame Structure, External Envelope (Cladding, Roofing, etc), basic Internal Fit-Out, Landscaping, and External Works.
We currently have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Sub Agent (MEP Buildings and Pumping Stations) within the Sitewide and Logistics team.
The Role Responsibilities for a Sub Agent:
* Manage the safe and efficient delivery of works for portal building or pumping station, as assigned by the Construction Manager
* Oversee day to day site operations, coordinating and supervising subcontractors for multi-disciplinary works (civil, architectural works or building services) to ensure alignment with contract and project requirements
* Lead, supervise, train, and mentor the site team, promoting strong operational control and supporting professional development
* Lead construction readiness, preparation and planning of works, including logistics, access, readiness documentation, and temporary works coordination
* Support the commercial team with contract administration, including preparing necessary notices under the NEC contract
* Ensure strict adherence to Health, Safety & Environmental standards, including conducting inductions, site orientation, participating in incident investigations, and enforcing safety rules
* Review, approve and manage the correct implementation of Method Statements Risk Assessments, and undertake periodic reviews.
* Oversee on-site quality management, including the execution to Inspection and Test Plans, managing work inspections, and ensuring all activities and documentation comply with quality control standards. Responsible for progressing the Non-Conformance Reports and Technical Queries to the timely close-out
* Develop and manage construction programme, monitors productivity, and lead coordination meetings to track progress and mitigate delays
* Manage internal and external interfaces, ensuring effective communication among subcontractors, client, and other stakeholders.
* Maintain a detailed site diary, records daily activities, progress, and communications, and ensures proper documentation of H&S, quality and site activities.
Experienced required:
* Engineering Degree holder, or similar equivalent, with multi-disciplinary breadth
* Proven experience in managing subcontractors and working with a major contractor
* Excellent team player and team leader, reporting progress to the Project Manager / Construction Manager
* Highly organised with good management and coordination skills
* Strong on technical details and with good communication skills
* Working knowledge of CDM 2015 Regulations and current legislation and standards associated with all engineering aspects
* BBV behaviours, respecting equality and diversity
* Essential SMSTS minimum qualified. Temporary Works Coordinator desired.
The following qualities/experience are desirable:
* Minimum 10 years relevant experience
* Large scale project experience (e.g. rail, buildings…).
* Negotiation and issue resolution skills
* Good Digital Skills

Overall, we will be building the following across all our sites:
* 42 viaducts totalling over 11km
* 66 overbridges
* More than 35 cuttings reaching over 30km
* 56 culverts
* 66 embankments reaching over 33km
* Building four motorway crossings requiring box structures
* Six interfaces with the existing rail requiring both dive-under and overbridge structures
