 
        
        Quantity Surveyor – Civil Engineering (Senior) – Liverpool
Our Civil Engineering team in Liverpool is growing with a need for a Quantity Surveyor to join a major infrastructure project in the heart of Liverpool's Docklands.
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, this position requires someone with a proven track record in large civil engineering schemes. The ideal candidate will have come from a main contracting background and will have experience within heavy civils environment across a number of sectors.
Responsibilities
 * Establish the project budget and cost codes to ensure detailed and accurate cost reporting.
 * Review main contract and subcontract terms, including stepping‑down conditions.
 * Procure subcontract packages and compile tender documentation.
 * Report accurately on costs to date and forecast cost to completion.
 * Administer the main contract and subcontracts including documentation of delays and loss and expense.
 * Regular liaison with the employer’s team to progress commercial aspects.
 * Carry out delay analysis and prepare narratives and loss and expense supporting claim submissions.
 * Handle subcontract issues as they arise.
 * Ensure variation / compensation events are correctly followed to protect the business.
 * Forecast cash flow and compile budgets.
 * Prepare and submit monthly payment applications including forecast defined cost to complete and compliance with contract administration such as KPI requirements.
 * Liaise with procurement to set and agree project allowances.
 * Attend progress and commercial meetings and represent the company commercially.
 * Use company software to manage reporting, forecasting, payments and documentation on the relevant online platform.
Qualifications
 * Third‑level qualification (degree or equivalent).
 * Experience in a commercial/quantity surveying role.
 * Experience across heavy civil sectors such as highways, rail, marine.
 * Contract knowledge – NEC 3 & 4 Main Options A, B & C.
 * Strong cost‑control skills, target setting, forecasting.
 * Negotiation and persuasive communication.
 * Problem solving and decision‑making.
 * Professional qualification (e.g., MRICS/MCICES) desirable.
