About the Role:
As a Buyer, you will play a crucial role in supporting the procurement and supply chain functions of our client's construction business. Your expertise will ensure timely purchasing, cost control, and inventory management, paving the way for smooth project delivery and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Purchase construction materials, tools, and services as per project specifications.
Communicate with suppliers and subcontractors to negotiate pricing and confirm orders.
Raise purchase orders and monitor deliveries, ensuring efficient tracking.
Maintain supplier databases and oversee performance tracking.
Support administrative tasks as needed.
Coordinate and track material deliveries, liaising with site teams to manage expectations.
Send weekly on-hire reports to Site Managers.
Manage inventory to prevent shortages or excess stock, ensuring timely orders.
Analyse pricing trends to identify cost-saving opportunities.
Collaborate with project managers to monitor material costs against budgets.
Prepare and store accurate purchase orders and contracts, maintaining comprehensive records
Ensure all materials meet specifications and collaborate with QA teams to resolve issues.
Work closely with site managers, engineers, and project teams to understand material needs.Who You Are:
Skills & Attributes:
Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
Strong organisational and time management abilities.
High attention to detail and accuracy in reporting.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and procurement platforms.
A team player with a proactive and analytical approach.
Experience & Qualifications:
3-5 years' experience in a buying/procurement role
Good working knowledge of construction materials and supplier networks.
Experience with QS and Accounts teams for cost alignment.
Relevant qualification in procurement, supply chain, or construction (desirable).Why Apply?
