About The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a General Practitioner to join our healthcare team at Derwentside IRC. Derwentside IRC is an Immigration Removal Centre based in Consett, County Durham. The site supports up to 80 women aged 18+ with primary care, mental health and substance misuse service. GP sessions are similar to those in community and focus mainly on acute needs with a holistic and trauma‑informed approach.
Hours
Part‑time: 28 hours per week (7 x 4‑hour sessions). The service operates 7 days a week (Mon–Sun). Sessions can be scheduled flexibly on a rota (including weekends) such as 3.5 full days or spread across 4‑5 days.
* AM: 08:00 – 12:00
* PM: 13:00 – 17:00
Salary
You’ll receive an annual salary up to £115,857 per annum FTE – depending on experience.

Candidates must have a legal right to work in the UK, and due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.
What you’ll be doing
* Deliver first‑class healthcare to a diverse group of patients and further develop your knowledge in areas you wouldn’t usually experience within a practice or even an A&E environment.
* Provide clinical assessment, diagnosis and timely decisions regarding future management.
* Provide a highly specialist resource to other members of the healthcare team at site, and support patients with active involvement in clinical governance and effectiveness activities.

Requirements
* MBChB or MBBS
* Inclusion on the GMC Register and GP Performers List
* Evidence of engagement with annual appraisal
* Experience working as a General Practitioner in community general practice
* Evidence of continuing professional development
* Ability to work with patients with a history of substance misuse
* RCGP Certificate in Substance Misuse 1 and 2, or prepared to undertake these qualifications
