Charge Nurse – Southgate Ward

We are seeking an experienced, registered Mental Health Nurse to lead the Southgate Ward as a Charge Nurse. The role offers a chance to develop leadership skills and advance your nursing career.
Job Summary
As Charge Nurse you will support the care team, collaborate with the Clinical Team Leader and Clinical Nurse Specialist, and manage ward operations in line with governance, environmental, financial and clinical standards.
Responsibilities
* Provide leadership and supervision to nursing staff.
* Ensure implementation of individualized, responsive care.
* Collaborate with clinical leaders to manage ward functions.
* Support staff development through mentorship and training.
* Apply high‑quality clinical skills and maintain professional resilience.
Qualifications & Experience
* Registered Mental Health Nurse.
* Completion of preceptorship.
* Relevant post‑registration experience in a mental health setting.
* Leadership or management training (desirable).
* Management/leadership experience with junior staff (desirable).
Skills & Knowledge
* Ability to supervise others.
* Understanding of confidentiality issues.
* Awareness of security and willingness to expand knowledge.
* Application of the Mental Health Act 1983.
* Breakaway and physical intervention training (required).
Other Requirements
* Full PMA fitness and willingness to work shifts, including nights and weekends.
* Flexibility over a 24‑hour, 7‑day week.
* Ability to travel to service locations.
* Disclosure and Barring Service check required.
