A vacancy has arisen due to previous post holder leaving the post. It is community-based post.
The Access to Mental Wellbeing Service is a gateway into secondary mental health services covering the York & Selby area reaching as far afield as Pocklington in the East, Easingwold in the North. The service receives referral from Primary Care, Social Care, Police, and internal teams such as Psychiatry Liaison and Crisis Teams. The service offers a Brief Intervention pathway for a range of common mental health difficulties to reduce the requirement for secondary care intervention. The service works closely with NHS Talking Therapies and First Contact Mental Health Workers based in GP Practices. In addition to this the service has close links with VCSE services in the local area and LA Safeguarding Services.
The team is multi-disciplinary, working with people aged 18-65 years within the York and Selby location. It utilises the expertise of doctors, nurses, ooccupational therapists, psychologists, social workers, and support workers. The post also accommodates a core or GP trainee and a Higher trainee post.
Main duties of the job
There is an expectation that the Consultant will attend team huddles which is where patients are discussed, Consultants will be required to support the team on a day-to-day basis and review patients as and when necessary. The Consultant will also attend weekly Leadership meeting (attended by Team manager, Consultant, Advanced practitioner, Band 6 Nurse and Psychologist etc.) to discuss team and patient related issues. The leadership team works as a collective leadership so the post holder should have an appreciation of a horizontal hierarchy.
The expectations of the clinical work are that the post holder will provide consultant input in line with the principles of New Ways of Working. The core clinical work will involve assessments at home or at Foss Park Hospital, participation in formulation-, review- and leadership- meetings as well as Mental Health Act-related work.
