As an intern, you will join the Laboratory Test Means Electrical/Electronic Design team. You will have the opportunity to develop your soft and technical skills in a variety of end-to-end activities, including designing, building, and testing. This includes challenging and exciting projects for aircraft that are already flying and those that may fly in the future.
The Laboratory Test Means Architecture and Integration team is responsible for the design, development, manufacturing, and maintenance of all Laboratory Test Means (LTM) within the Systems Integration Test perimeter. Virtual Platforms;
LG 0) representative of the aircraft;
Ad-hoc test benches for various purposes (e.g., Test Mean design and development for new test rigs;
Testing of new releases of TMS;
Support projects seeking to promote new hardware technologies;
Test bench interconnection, Predictive health monitoring).
The aim of this internship is to assist the LTM engineers on various activities, within the design and/or maintenance groups of the department. This could include the design and development of electrical and/or electronic hardware for test benches and other testing needs.
Activities carried out could involve any Airbus commercial aircraft programme, another Airbus entity programme or R&T work. This may also require trips to various Airbus sites and/or at supplier facilities.
Furthermore, significant opportunities to develop soft skills will be available throughout the internship by supporting and conducting a range of development tasks including school liaison events and departmental activities.
Our placements are open to Undergraduates only. Therefore it is mandatory for candidates to be an undergraduate for the whole duration of the placement. Please inform your graduation date on your application.
Studying towards a degree in Electrical and/or Electronics Engineering;
Project management knowledge or interest;
Negotiation level of English both written and spoken;
Nice to have interest in electronics for control systems;
Knowledge or experience of Autocad, Fusion 360, and use of diagnostic equipment (Scopes, DVMs) would be an advantage;
Basic awareness of electrical safety would be a plus.
SECURITY CLEARANCE: You may also need to gain UK SC-level Security Clearance or Export Control, depending on the role.
