Key Responsibilities
* To always comply with the GMC’S guidance on ‘Good Medical Practice’.
* To ensure that patient confidentiality is always maintained.
* To undertake duties as defined within the attached job plan in so far as practicable and in agreement with your Clinical Leads.
* To be responsible and managerially accountable for the reasonable and effective use of Trust resources that you use and influence, and professionally accountable to the Medical Director.
* On commencement to ensure personal attendance at the Trust’s corporate Induction (or arranged Consultant Induction).
* To participate in the Trust’s Statutory & Mandatory training programme.
* To be responsible for the Clinical Management of in and outpatients under your care.
* To demonstrate flexibility according to departmental requirements after discussion with the Clinical Lead.
Additional Duties
* The appointee will contribute to the clinical care of patients referred to the Haematology Department at both St Helier and Epsom General Hospitals.
* Participate in 3 out‑patient clinics per week.
* The appointee will participate in the clinical rotas for the management of the inpatients at St Helier Hospital.
* The appointee will have an office with own desk and personal computer. They will have access to a microscope, including 2‑ and 6‑headed microscopes for teaching purposes.
* Dedicated secretarial support is provided by shared medical secretaries/patient pathway coordinators.
* Responsible for advising all laboratory users, including general practitioners, on general haematology problems, as required.
* This post also encompasses a lead role, to which 1 PA is allocated. This is currently planned to be the Haemato‑Oncology MDT lead role.
Consultants wishing to work less than full time may be eligible to be considered for the post. Modification of the job content would be discussed on a personal basis with the Trust.
Flexibility in working hours and hours may be discussed with the Trust. This post is available to start from 8th June 2026.
