We are pleased to be recruiting an Estates Support Manager to support the Facilities Manager, or Director of Estates, to ensure the accommodation and resources are delivered to a high standard, including the supervision of Building Support Staff and Security Staff.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
* Lead and manage a team of BSS operatives operating on the site to provide a highly efficient and effective support service to meet the needs of the support divisions, curriculum divisions and their students.
* Lead and manage a team of Security operatives on the site to provide a safe environment for staff, students and visitors.
* Work co-operatively with divisional directors and other managers based at the site.
* Onsite management of contractors carrying out their duties to ensure full health & safety compliance.
* Provide encouragement, support and guidance to BSS and Security staff in order to continue to raise the quality of the support service provided to the premises users.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
* Supervise BSS/janitorial staff and their workload.
* Ensure adequate resources in terms of BSS staff, tools, materials, plant, machinery and other resources are planned and provided to support the day to day Estates needs of the site.
* With Facilities Manager, ensure accommodation and resources comply with current health and safety legislation and regulations and are adequately resourced.
* Access data from Track-It on a daily basis and generate a list of jobs for BSS staff to carry out.
* Carry out regular site walks and generate list of works that require Estates attention.
* Supervise security staff, ensuring they adhere to all relevant college procedures.
* Carry out monthly cleaning audits with cleaning manager and ensure facilities are kept clean and tidy at all times.
* Ensure weekly/monthly statutory checks are carried out and logged according to Facilities Manager Instructions.
* Take and process meter readings and log accordingly.
* Manage termly room utilisation surveys and log data in accordance with procedure.
* Deal with requests from staff/students via telephone/email/Track-It or verbally for room layouts, furniture requests etc.
* Follow and adhere to the Campus' gritting procedure.
* Under direction of the Facilities Manager undertake Fire Drills, Health & Safety Meetings as requested.
* Generate list of cleaning works for holiday 'shut downs'.
* Manage and record all work shifts, sickness absence, holidays, temporary and the like to ensure the site is adequately staffed by BSS and security operatives at all operational times.
* Attend Centre Management Group meetings as deemed necessary.
* Undertake periodic inspections and audits of site facilities, classrooms etc.
* Able to work outside of the normal week, with reasonable notice, as required and depending on the needs of the service. This may include occasional evening and weekend working.
* To undertake any other duties commensurate with the nature and grade of the post.
Relationship to other post-holders within the College
* The Estates Support Manager is responsible to and will be line managed by the Facilities Manager or Director of Estates.
* The Estates Support Manager will be accountable, on a day to day basis, to the Facilities Manager, or above and to the Directors and their respective teams based at the site on which they are working.
* The Estates Support Manager will be responsible for task setting and monitoring BSS and Security activity to ensure a high standard of support service is provided and maintained.

* Excellent IT skills.

* Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and demonstrable presentation skills.
* Demonstrable record of achievement against aims, objectives and targets.
* Able to work outside normal working week; with reasonable notice, as required and depending on the needs of the service. This will include evening and weekend working.
* Demonstrate an ability to develop new ideas and work initiatives.
