Older People and Stroke Service are seeking a band 6 Charge Nurse to join our team at the Royal Alexandra Hospital.
The shift pattern for this post is Monday – Sunday.
This role offers an opportunity to provide senior nursing leadership within a dedicated ortho-geriatric ward, supporting the Senior Charge Nurse in managing staff and ensuring high-quality patient care. They will have defined responsibilities delegated from the Senior Charge Nurse.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
* Provide senior nursing leadership to the ward team in support of the Senior Charge Nurse.
* Ensure the delivery of safe and effective, high-quality patient care within the Older People and Stroke Service (ortho-geriatric) ward.
* Supervise qualified and unqualified staff and ensure appropriate learning opportunities are met.
* Contribute to the management of the ward/department budget and resources.
* Work with an experienced multi-disciplinary team to enhance the patient journey and patient experience.
* Role modelling respect and inclusion within the ward
* Engage in collaborative problem solving, supporting and encouraging nursing staff to develop solutions
* Deputise for the ward manager when required

As from 1st April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
