Are you looking to join a dynamic, forward thinking department and apply your skills to a clinical setting? An exciting opportunity has arisen for an exercise specialist to join our Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Service. This post is suitable for qualified exercise instructors with an interest in delivering cardiac or pulmonary rehabilitation. Previous NHS experience is desirable but not essential. The successful candidate will be based with the CREST team within the hospital and various community locations. Training and support will be provided to help you develop the relevant skills. Applicants must have good written and spoken English.
Responsibilities
* Provide exercise prescription and delivery within the Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Service, as part of the multidisciplinary team, without direct supervision, according to team/department standards and protocols.
* Maintain a high standard of exercise prescription for patients recovering from cardiac events or those with long-term cardiac and/or respiratory conditions.
* Run classes for patients and conduct 1:1 assessments; assist the team with administrative tasks as they arise.
* Communicate effectively with multi-professional team members and report to the supervisor any patient problems or issues regarding clinical management; communicate sensitively with patients and their carers, including those with impaired cognitive function.

Qualifications and experience
Essential
* Level 3 Fitness Instructor or Exercise Referral Instructor (equivalent to NVQ3)
* Member of Register of Exercise Professionals
* Level 4 Specialist Instructor Qualification in Cardiac Rehab (equivalent to HNC)
Desirable
* REPs Level 4 Certificate for Chronic Respiratory Disease
* Experience of providing training and mentoring to junior/new colleagues
* Experience of working within the NHS
* Knowledge and experience of exercise prescription for people with long-term conditions
* Knowledge and experience of assessing cardiovascular fitness (functional capacity testing – walking or cycle tests)
* Knowledge of hospital systems (e.g., Cerner) and GP referrals for exercise schemes
