Overview

CAMBRIAN TRAINING COMPANY is seeking to recruit a professional Training Officer in Food and Drink Manufacture & Butchering to join our team based in the North East Wales (Wrexham/Mold area). This is a full-time role (37 hours per week) with a salary scale of £25,000 per annum for an Unqualified Training Officer and up to £27,000 per annum for a Qualified Training Officer.

What we are looking for

We are looking to recruit a highly skilled Training Officer to work as part of our growing Food and Drink Manufacture & Butchering team. The ideal candidate will be able to teach and develop Food and Drink Manufacture and Butchering apprentices who are employed within the sector. You should be self-motivated, enthusiastic, able to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. You will work directly with employers and apprentices of all ages; the ability to motivate individuals and support them in achieving agreed goals is essential, along with the proven ability to motivate learners to achieve their NVQ qualifications Levels 2 to 4.

You will gain job satisfaction through teaching your apprentices and helping them achieve their NVQ qualifications. You will deliver teaching and learning in the workplace on a day-to-day basis, pass on your knowledge and experience, undertake assessments, assist candidates in preparing their portfolio of evidence, and carry out progression reviews. You are expected to support learners to improve literacy, numeracy and digital skills, and promote the use of the Welsh Language where possible. Access to your own transport is required as travel is critical to the position.


Requirements

* Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in the Food and Drink Manufacturing sector
* Food Manufacture or other relevant qualifications at level 2 and 3
* Experience in leading a team and supervising others (desirable, not essential)
* Excellent organisational and time management skills
* Good level of IT skills and ability to learn new software
* Hold D32/D33, TAQA or A1 Assessor award or willingness to undertake
* GCSE A*–C / 9–4 in English and Maths or Level 2 equivalent (desirable, not essential)
* Ability to speak Welsh is desirable but not essential


Key responsibilities

* Delivering effective teaching and learning to a caseload of learners in the workplace
* Development of learner’s skills, knowledge and understanding
* Plan and carry out assessments to meet qualification needs, including in person and online
* Maintenance of learner records of assessment and progress
* Engaging with potential employers and learners to identify new opportunities
* Working with other Cambrian departments to ensure timely completion of the apprenticeship programme
