Hire Desk Controller Apprentice
Location: Head Office

Epping

Contract: Apprenticeship (Level 2 Hire Controller

Plant, Tools & Equipment)

Duration: 13 months (with potential to progress)

About us:
Camfaud Group is the largest concrete pump hire company in the UK, employing over 300 staff across various depots nationwide. Due to continued growth, we are excited to offer a Hire Desk Controller Apprenticeship at our Epping Head Office.
This opportunity is ideal for someone eager to begin their career in the hire industry, gaining hands-on experience while studying towards a nationally recognised apprenticeship qualification.
The Role:
As a Hire Desk Controller Apprentice, you will be trained to be the first point of contact for our customers, supporting the hire process from start to finish. You will gain practical, on-the-job experience alongside structured training, developing skills in customer service, operations, health & safety, and equipment hire management.
Key Responsibilities (with training and support):
Handling incoming customer calls and emails for hire requests.
Learning to process hires through our Rapid Apps system.
Assisting in maintaining the hire board and job allocations.
Preparing and issuing accurate hire quotations.
Following up with customers to confirm bookings.
Assisting with operator notifications via ROTG.
Collecting essential booking details (purchase orders, payments, etc.).
Supporting the invoicing team with accurate working sheets and timesheets.
Helping to resolve customer queries and escalating when needed.
Learning about health & safety, environmental regulations, and industry standards.
Contributing to continuous improvements in processes.
Supporting the Hire Desk Manager and wider team with ad-hoc projects.

Strong communicators with a confident, friendly, and professional telephone manner.
Able to work well as part of a team in a busy office environment.
Keen to build a career in the construction, logistics, or plant hire industry.
Accurate and detail-focused, with good IT skills (Microsoft Office).
Committed to completing their apprenticeship programme and ongoing development.
No prior hire desk experience is required

full training will be provided.
Training & Development:
As part of your apprenticeship, you will study for the Level 2 Hire Controller (Plant, Tools &Equipment) qualification, which covers:
Health & Safety awareness.
Environmental regulations and sustainability.
Customer service and relationship management.
Equipment hire processes (on-hire, off-hire, delivery, collection).
Pricing structures, quotations, and contract terms.
Digital systems and IT used in the hire industry.
Teamwork, communication, and professional behaviours.
You will receive regular support from your line manager, mentor, and training provider, ensuring your apprenticeship is both engaging and rewarding.
Hours of Work:
Monday to Friday (shift patterns 07:0016:00 or 09:0018:00).
