Introduction
Cygnets Art School are looking for a passionate, enthusiastic and reliable new teacher to run our classes! Please read all the information below before applying, as this is a part-time, freelance position, and may not be suitable for everyone.
Cygnets is a fine art school franchise for children, with 60+ locations in the UK. We teach traditional drawing, painting and sculpture, combined with unique projects; experienced teachers, and professional quality materials. Classes are run for ages 5+ after school and weekends during term time, as well as every half term and school holiday.
The successful candidate will teach all classes (both term time and holiday) at locations in Putney & surrounding areas, for groups of up to sixteen students (assistants are provided for larger classes).
Teachers are provided with all materials and a curriculum, including a step-by-step videos for how to teach each project. This role would suit a creative individual with a passion for teaching, who's looking for well-paid work in the artistic industry, but with the flexibility of minimal hours that can fit around other commitments.
Term Time Hours:
Starting January/February 2026:
Tuesday 3:30-4.30pm, Wednesday 3.30-4.30pm. Potential for more hours assisting in other classes too.
Then ongoing each term (10 weeks/ term | 3 terms/ year)
Holiday Hours:
Starting February 2026
Mondays and Tuesdays 10:30am-2pm
Then ongoing each half term (3 x weeks per year), Easter Holiday (2 x weeks per year), and Summer holiday (5 x weeks per year).
Training Hours:
The successful candidate will ideally be available asap to train via assisting with classes.
Pay:
£35/ hr (please note this is paid for the length of the class and includes any preparation/ set up/ clear-up time. Eg a 1hr class 3:30-4:30pm is paid at £35)
Potential additional hours and income from private tuition/events/other classes.
Necessary Requirements:
- Strong core artistic skills in a variety of mediums
- A passion for working with children
- Excellent reliability, time-keeping and organisation
Ideal Additional Requirements
- Teaching experience
- A knowledge of the local area and connection to local schools
