We are looking for a Retail Supermarket Compliance Auditor (Safe & Legal Auditor) to join our diverse team. The successful candidate will ensure our store’s operational compliance through the Safe & Legal audit programme, safeguarding the company from reputational risk and enforcement actions (which may include unlimited fines and license removal).
The ideal candidate will live centrally to the audit areas listed here & have good access to them all: Norwich, Cambridgeshire, Essex, London, Kent, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Surrey.
The successful candidate will be a self-starter who travels to different stores daily to conduct comprehensive Safe & Legal audits, liaising with Regional Compliance Managers to support their initiatives and drive improvements.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
1. Conduct technical Safe and Legal audits following the Audit Protocol to determine risk ratings and communicate findings and remedial Action Plans to store and Regional Management.
2. Perform primary and re-Audits within the scheduled frequency and timelines.
3. Participate actively in the audit consistency programme.
4. Support stores through training to ensure safe and legal trading, delivering proactive and reactive coaching on company policies and procedures. Lead centres of excellence for new Managers training.
5. Build strong relationships with retail management teams.
6. Collaborate with Regional Compliance Managers to address serious hazards.
7. Support investigations, follow-ups, and visits as capacity allows, primarily focusing on auditing.
8. Maintain and develop personal competence.
9. Provide coaching and guidance to stores on implementing safe and legal policies effectively.
10. Plan and deliver the audit programme efficiently to minimize travel and costs.
11. Manage own expenditure within budget limits.
12. Conduct Fire Risk Assessments to assist Regional Compliance Managers (training provided).
13. Participate in team meetings and updates.
14. Lead an annual project to enhance retail performance.
