This is an important and exciting role within a high-profile, independent non-departmental public body. The Policy and Compliance Team sits at the heart of the Commission’s work with Commissioners, departments and senior leaders. As a Senior Policy Officer, you will play a vital role in promoting the Recruitment Principles and Civil Service Code. You will support the application of these principles and the Code, and engage directly with senior stakeholders, Commissioners, and the public. Key responsibilities Serve as a line manager, empowering and developing an EO policy officer. Responsibility for managing the exceptional appointment requests under the Recruitment Principles process and oversight of particularly complex cases. Supporting the Policy and Compliance Team in developing policy materials for recruiting organisations and the public. Managing the Civil Service Commission’s inbox to ensure expert and timely advice to recruiting organisations across the Civil Service. Using excellent communication skills to work with a range of senior stakeholders, including Commissioners and officials in government departments, cultivating relationships where necessary. Delivering the Commission new and ambitious training programme on relevant policy areas to recruiting organisations. Driving efficiencies and technological developments within the team. Proactively leveraging data to inform policy development and decision-making. Reporting to the Board of Commissioners on policy and compliance matters. The Commission operates a hybrid way of working with time spent in the office and at home.
