Team Leader – Children’s Residential

The Opportunity
We are recruiting a Team Leader to join a regulated children’s residential home, supporting children and young people with complex needs.
This is a leadership role within a child-centred environment. You will work alongside the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager to lead a team of Residential Support Workers, ensuring high standards of care, safeguarding and compliance.
This is a responsible and rewarding position suited to experienced practitioners ready to step into leadership or established Team Leaders seeking progression.
The Role
Leadership & Team Management
• Lead, motivate and support Residential Support Workers
• Conduct supervisions and contribute to performance management
• Model consistent, professional and reflective practice
• Support recruitment, induction and ongoing staff development
• Assist with rota planning to meet care needs
Care & Support
• Deliver high-quality, child-centred care
• Support children with daily routines, education and life skills
• Build trusting, appropriate relationships
• Promote resilience, independence and positive outcomes
• Contribute to a warm, structured and nurturing home environment
Safeguarding & Professional Practice
• Maintain a strong safeguarding culture
• Ensure care plans and risk assessments are consistently followed
• Support staff with behaviour management and de-escalation
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to care planning reviews
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards
Partnership Working
• Engage professionally with families, social workers and external professionals
• Promote meaningful relationships and community involvement
Essential Requirements
• Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
• Enhanced DBS suitable for working with children and young people
• Experience within a regulated children’s residential setting
• Experience supporting children with complex needs or challenging behaviours
• Strong safeguarding knowledge
• Ability to work shifts, weekends and sleep-ins
• Strong leadership and communication skills
Desirable
• Level 5 qualification in Leadership/Management (or working towards)
• Experience conducting formal staff supervision
• Full UK driving licence
• Knowledge of behaviour management frameworks and risk assessment
