We are recruiting for a SEN Teaching Assistant to join a highly specialist SEN school in High Wycombe, supporting children and young people with complex needs, autism, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
This role is particularly well-suited to individuals from residential care, children's homes, youth work, SEMH provisions, or trauma-informed therapeutic environments, who are looking to apply their experience in an educational setting.
The Role - SEN Teaching Assistant (High Wycombe)
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils who require consistent, compassionate, and specialist care. Your responsibilities will include:
Building strong, secure, and trusting relationships with vulnerable children
Supporting emotional regulation, co-regulation, and behaviour de-escalation
Adapting learning activities to meet a wide range of needs and abilities
Using a trauma-informed and attachment-aware approach to daily interactions
Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and safeguarding professionals
Creating a safe, predictable, and nurturing environment for all learnersThis position is ideal for individuals with experience in care work, support work, or therapeutic services, now wishing to transition into a long-term specialist school setting.
